History

Since 1950, Raleigh Radiology has had a strong history of caring for our community.

We are proud of the sub-specialized care provided by our high value specialists. Our goal is to treat patients how we would want to be treated, utilizing the most advanced imaging technology in the hands of experienced technologists and radiologists.

Many dramatic changes have occurred in radiology over the years. Raleigh Radiology continues to incorporate the latest technological breakthroughs as they occur and will continue to lead the evolution of healthcare in the Triangle.

Raleigh Radiology Timeline

2002

Raleigh Radiology Brand Unites Satellite Offices

Each satellite office of RRA was incorporated into one brand to unite the practice. This included the addition of a new office—Raleigh Radiology at Cedarhurst.

2005

Blue Ridge Office Moves Location

RRA moved its Blue Ridge location to a more modern, comfortable, and private space and added both digital mammography and MRI services.

2007

Three New Locations and First in the Triangle Open Bore MRI

Cedarhurst facility became the Triangle’s first high field 1.5T Open Bore MRI. In the fall of 2007, three additional outpatient centers opened—Raleigh Radiology Cary, Raleigh Radiology Wake Forest and Raleigh Radiology Clayton. These additional locations allowed us to become the first fully digital practice in the area while offering more community-based healthcare.

2009

Vascular and Interventional Clinic

The Blue Ridge facility opened a vascular and interventional clinic offering varicose and spider vein therapy, as well as interventional procedures such as uterine fibroid embolization and cryoablations.

2010

Brier Creek Location

RRA expanded CT services and opened a facility in Brier Creek with additional modalities including mammography, ultrasound, and MRI.

2011

Improvement in Women's Imaging Services

The Cary facility was opened and provided a dedicated women’s imaging area. The Cedarhurst facility was also expanded in 2011 to improve women’s imaging services.

2018

The Vein and Vascular Center and CT Cardiac Scoring

The vascular and interventional clinic officially became The Vein and Vascular Center at Raleigh Radiology, offering services at the Blue Ridge and Cary offices. The Blue Ridge office also began offering CT Cardiac Scoring for non-invasive scans of the heart.

2019

Fuquay-Varina Location

An outpatient facility in Fuquay-Varina opened with the most advanced imaging in ultrasound, bone density scan, X-ray, 3D mammography, and MRI services for patient convenience. The Blue Ridge office expanded its service line again by offering Nuclear Medicine procedures.

2022

Holly Springs Location

An outpatient facility in Holly Springs opened with services to support MRI, Ultrasound, Mammography, Bone Density, and X-ray.

2023

Midtown Location

An outpatient facility in Midtown (Raleigh) opened in partnership with WakeMed.

2024

The Vein & Vascular Center Move

The Vein and Vascular Center moved to suite 105 in our Midtown location. 

Introducing Whole Body Wellness

Raleigh Radiology unveils Whole Body Wellness,  preventative screening services that utilize technology and empower patients to take control of their health. Services include Whole Body Screening MRI, Mammography, Cardiac Scoring, CT Lung Screening, Bone Density and CT Angiography. 

RR South Location

An additional outpatient facility in Fuquay-Varina, RR South, opened in partnership with WakeMed with services to support Ultrasound and X-ray.

Chapel Hill Location

An outpatient facility in Chapel Hill opened in partnership with WakeMed.
